A lazy Sunday with a little grocery shopping, late lunch with the family. What to wear... This mama is all about comfort (but I still want to look like I tried...) So this is what I came up with!

I Like this Recipe

I've said this before - when something works for you, it just works for you. Lately the leggings, long sweater, boots recipe has been really working for me. I mean that in the way that it's functional, comfortable, and easy to wear. I have a varied amount of leggings/jeggings/skinny pants and a varied amount of sweaters, tunics, sweater dresses, and a varied amount of boots. Mix, match, repeat.

Mom's Night Out

I think pretty much any woman will admit - from day to day, women dress more for each other than we do to attract someone. So when going for my Mom's night out, I definitely wanted to look dressy without being too dressed up.

Relaxed

I'm starting to feel like my everyday wear is more about my down coat and various toques than anything else. Today was a busy day for me so it was a jeans, t-shirt, vest kind of day. I wore it with my snowboots, which were obviously too wet/snowy to take pictures in inside - hence the socks.

Poppy

The colour of this blazer is illusive. Some days I look at it and think, "Yup - that's my orange blazer!" and other days I think "I wonder if my red blazer would go with this?"

Out of Necessity

Sometimes truly great things come out of necessity - okay, this isn't exactly one of those instances.... however, we went out to my husband's family's place over the weekend to celebrate his Aunt's 60th birthday and when we arrived we realized that our dress clothes were still hanging in our front hall. After a rather frantic shopping trip with my sister in law I managed to pick up a few things to wear to the party, one of which being this blouse - which I am totally and completely in love with. It's got a great bird print, an interesting collar and pleat and a nice soft, draped shape.

Black and Red

I think black and red is one of my favourite colour combinations. Whenever I look back at photos of myself and outfits I particularly love - black and red is definitely a recurring theme. There's just something about it.

Black and Brown

You know how you have these set ideas in your head about what does or does not "go" together. For some reason I had always thought black OR brown, but never both. Even now, there are times when I look at an outfit and think if only I had these shoes in black/brown rather than whatever they currently are, because it would "go" better.

InVested

 I just can't get over how much I love this vest. I'm really looking forward to wearing it throughout the rest of the fall and winter just adding it as another layer in my fall/winter wardrobe.

Okay.
I admit it.
I am officially in love with peplums.
I know, I know, you're thinking "Tea, this is not new news". But I didn't realize until I started going through my fall wardrobe this week and trying to decide if there was anything that needed to leave and go start new life elsewhere that every. single. peplum. I owned went immediately into the keep pile. I just love this silhouette.

This red hi/lo peplum has the added bonus of being a DIY so I can feel extra proud when someone compliments me on it. It was once a skater style dress, which was obscenely short on me (hi, plus sizes, short waist and long legs do not make for a good skater dress body. Oy). So I gave it the chop and turned it into a cute, ballet back, hi/lo peplum top instead. Yay!

Graphic top & skinny jeans

I haven't worn this top in ages, but I felt like wearing something funky and fun when we went to my sister & brother-in-law's house to celebrate his 30th birthday. Hanging out with my family usually means lots of laughs and eating good food, so whatever you wear needs to be super comfortable, but I still wanted to look 'dressed' rather than going over in my sweatpants.

Houndstooth Peplum

Don't you love it when you pull out your storage box of fall and winter clothes and there's an item in there that you immediately grab to wear! It's like getting a whole box of new clothes again - and they're all just waiting to be worn!

Okay, maybe it's not like that for everyone.... but for me when I saw this houndstooth peplum I thought - yay! I missed this shirt!
