Tucked

Whenever we visit my in-laws we try to go and attend my husband's family church as well. We like to say that they're the "Grandma's House" of churches - our home away from home if you will.

Photo Ready

I admit it. I am one of those super irritating moms that picks out coordinating outfits for their family members, makes them trudge out into the local park, in the snow, take off their warm winter coats and pose while I set up the camera and take a few dozen shots.

Traditions

I am lucky to have a very close relationship with my sisters.
It wasn't until I was an adult and began talking to other people that I realized just how "abnormal" our close relationships were. My sisters are 3 and 6 years younger than me, respectively, but are absolutely some of my closest friends. We talk very regularly, see each other often and have several sister traditions - one of which, is apple picking.

Timeless

I've worn this dress several times already - I'm pretty sure I've even posted it here on the blog, and every time I think "I should style this differently" and then, I just.... don't.

Sassenach

Did you ever read the Outlander series of novels by Diana Gabaldon? Or have you been watching the show?

Plaid Pencil

This asymmetric plaid skirt is a new addition to my wardrobe and it's so perfectly "fall" and will transition well into the winter months.

A Little Bit Country...

When I put this outfit on I immediately thought of the mid 90s when I was a teenager and (admittedly) wore the heck out of the grunge trend. I mean, ripped jeans, plaid shirts with cuffed sleeves, boots, and so on and so on.

Who wears Plaid Pants?!

I had an almost unnecessary amount of excitement when I found these plaid pixie pants at Old Navy this fall.

A little mix

I love prints. I love this blanket scarf that my sister gave me for my birthday this year. I love my denim jacket, and I love a good tunic with leggings. Could I get all of these things in one outfit? You know it!

Vintage Inspired

Every now and then I get just a teensy bit obsessed with vintage and retro styling. I love the pictures I have of my great-grandmothers in their cotton day-dresses, sensible tweeds, and good walkable dressy shoes. I love the hats (and I'm wearing a fascintor headband in homage to them) and the simple accessories.

Pleather and Plaid

Don't you love a good thrifting find? I know I do. I was out with my sister and randomly happened upon this red pleather jacket. It's a Le Chateau, so the quality is decent, but I sure wasn't swayed by the $45 price tag. Of course that's when the lady working the shop mentioned that the blue tag items were 75% off that day. Pleather jacket for $13? Sold!

Outdoorsy... ish

This is one of those outfits that I always try and categorize and it comes out as "Outdoors...y....ish".
Thing is - if I was actually spending time outdoors, I probably wouldn't be wearing this. But this is the kind of outfit that people think of when you say "outdoorsy". Y'know?

Winter Uniform

Do you ever wear something so often that it starts to feel like a uniform? Well, if I had to have a uniform for winter - it would be this: jeans, tank/tee, button down, vest, moccasins/boots. Done. Voila.

Peach and Plaid

Wearing skirts in the winter can be tricky up here in Canada. Tights or not there are days when you still need a rather thick layer of fabric between your skin and the cold.

Plaid and denim

This plaid shirt is quickly becoming a wardrobe favourite for me. It has a great loose, comfortable cut, soft flannel fabric and yet enough structure to be worn on it's own and not look like I'm wearing my Dad's shirt (which I totally used to do, I'll admit it - it was the 90s....).
