Traditions
I am lucky to have a very close relationship with my sisters.
It wasn't until I was an adult and began talking to other people that I realized just how "abnormal" our close relationships were. My sisters are 3 and 6 years younger than me, respectively, but are absolutely some of my closest friends. We talk very regularly, see each other often and have several sister traditions - one of which, is apple picking.

Fly Me to the Moon
I do love a good graphic tee - but I don't wear one very often. Honestly, I find I'm drawn to solid brights, a funky pattern or even just a neutral (hello - how many black tee-shirts does one girl need?). But a couple of years ago we were in Florida on a family vacation and visited Kennedy Space station - and when I saw this tee, I had. to. have. it.

Cap it off
My faux leather baseball cap is back in rotation. I loved this hat last summer and I'm looking forward to getting a lot of wear out of it this year as well.

Tunic Trend
I find it pretty amusing when I see things like "Tunics are on-trend for the plus-size woman" in advertisements or on fashion segments on day-time TV.

What the Dickens?
I wore this outfit on St. Patrick's day - and I made sure I had some green on so I wouldn't get pinched!

Pink, Spring and Lacy things
When I saw this tunic sweater at our local GT Boutique I thought - well - there's something springy!
The best part is though, that this sweater is both light enough to wear into spring and warm enough to wear right now!

Plaid Love
There's something about plaid in the winter. Even more so for me as Christmas approaches. Give me plaid anything - plaid shirts, plaid coats, plaid pajama pants, plaid blankets and scarves, plaid pillows even! I just love it. And this plaid shirt just says relaxing at Christmastime with friends. It's the red and green and white I think.

Poppy
The colour of this blazer is illusive. Some days I look at it and think, "Yup - that's my orange blazer!" and other days I think "I wonder if my red blazer would go with this?"

Fall Colours
I will admit that I don't go outside my colour-comfort-zone very often. Which is funny because my colour comfort zone is made up of pretty much all colours that most other people don't want to wear. Bright, bold, obnoxious even. If you can describe a colour that way, I'll wear it.

Floral, Cobalt & Leopard - Oh My!
Sometimes an item will just jump out at me when I'm thrifting.
Sometimes, it's meant to be.
Sometimes I notice a super cute pair of leopard print flats on varagesale and then I notice that they're only $2.00.... how can it get any better than that, you ask?
Well I'll tell you.

Grey Midi Skirt
I recieved this fabric from the hubs' Grandmother some time ago - and I loved it so much that I knew that it needed to be something simple that would allow the fabric to speak for itself. A simple a-line midi length skirt was just the ticket.

Blue print and ball cap
These blue print pants are back in rotation again. The weather is starting to turn colder and once it stops getting up to 15+ degrees in the afternoon, I'll have to give up and put these pants away for the winter.
I finally picked up a "leather" ball cap. I've been wanting one for some time, but I sure didn't have the cash to drop on a real leather ball cap. I picked this one up from Ardene on a 3 for $10 deal - that means this hat cost $3.33! Now that's a steal!
It was pretty cool this morning, so I opted for a black waffle-knit crew neck tee-shirt under my blue cardigan both to keep warm and to pick up on the black in the ball cap. My trusty navy boat shoes and I was set!

Red & Teal
I love a good slightly unexpected colour combination. Wearing red & teal together is probably not for everyone, however, today it was really feeling brisk and fall-ish. These red "denim look" jeggings are so ridiculously comfortable and stretchy and I love the collar on this long teal sweat-shirt. Throw on some moccs and this is a great mama-worthy outfit!

Summer Blues
The end of summer always gives me a slight case of the blues. Summer is so short here in Ontario, and while I do look forward to crisp fall days, and the colours of the leaves on the trees (and all the thing I'm allergic to being dead and not affecting me anymore) I know that it will only be a short time before I'm longing for the hot, lazy days of summer.
Also - it just so happens that my birthday falls in the last week of August, so I have to officially get older every year at the end of summer... so, y'know, there's THAT.
That said, the blues in this outfit do not give me the blues. They're actually quite bright and fun, and I love these printed pants so much that they basically always get worn straight out of the laundry basket.

Playdate: Comfort to the Maxi... dress
There's something about hanging out with my best friend that makes me want to wear pjs. A little weird, I know - it's not like our whole lives have been endless slumber parties, but when you're as open and comfortable with someone as I am with my BFF I usually just want to wear something relaxed and comfy. Our kids tend to drive us fairly crazy, so we usually hang out in her livingroom while they destroy each other the playroom and chat and drink tea. See? Perfect. She totally gets me.
So this is what I wore to our "playdate". I love this maxi dress. I got it from Old Navy like a billion years ago (or, like 4, what ev's) and it's just like wearing a nightgown - only appropriate to wear outside your house. Which equals awesome. I'm not a fan of having half my bra showing which usually happens because the armholes on this maxi are abnormally large, so I usually throw a little shrug or cardigan over top. It was kind of hot and muggy this day, so I went with this cool little crocheted shrug. Just enough to hide the massive armholes, but not so much so that I was overly hot. Comfortable.

Mama Chic
I call this type of outfit "Mama Chic". It's like the Today's Parent of outfits for Moms. It's the perfect recipe for looking what my Grandmother would call "put together". Which pretty much means boring, basic, but clothed not in sweatpants and a dirty t-shirt.
So, to recap: Capri pants (with a proper waistband and fly, y'know "real" pants) + Brightly coloured T-shirt + Contrasting colour sweater/cardigan/light blazer = Mama Chic
Voila
