Test Shots

This is just a simple, comfy outfit for kicking around the house, running a couple of errands and working on a few Christmas gifts.

Photo Ready

I admit it. I am one of those super irritating moms that picks out coordinating outfits for their family members, makes them trudge out into the local park, in the snow, take off their warm winter coats and pose while I set up the camera and take a few dozen shots.

Blue Suede Booties

Have you ever looked at an item of clothing or a pair of shoes on someone else - and loved it... but then every time you try them on you think "Oh man! I look like a dork!" ?

Sweater Weather

For the  most part I don't buy into the whole "basic b*tch" ness of fall-love. I don't like Pumpkin Spice Lattes (sorry, but if it's gonna have the spices, it has to have the pumpkin - and also, preferably, actually be a baked good), I don't wear ugg boots and yoga pants out in public (I don't even OWN ugg boots) and if I wear a flannel shirt I'm more likely to look like I misplaced my axe than anything that can be described as "cute".

Traditions

I am lucky to have a very close relationship with my sisters.
It wasn't until I was an adult and began talking to other people that I realized just how "abnormal" our close relationships were. My sisters are 3 and 6 years younger than me, respectively, but are absolutely some of my closest friends. We talk very regularly, see each other often and have several sister traditions - one of which, is apple picking.

A Good Find

I love getting new clothes as much as the next girl, but clothes are expensive. I will freely admit to "window shopping" (or windows shopping, lol) through Torrid's website or a variety of other online retailers that cater to the plus-size figure.

Spring(ish)

Oh, I have been dying for some spring-like weather! I mean, I know that here in Canada we have gotten a light dusting of snow as late as the Victoria Day weekend - but still! I need sunshine! I need warmth! I need flowers and bees and spring thunderstorms and green everywhere! Come. On. Spring.

An Uncommon Silhouette

First - let me apologize for the pics today, readers - I don't know what was going on with my camera, but everything came out blurry - missed point of focus.... man I need to hire a photographer, rather than using a timer! (Any volunteers? Lol)

Put a bow on it

Like most Moms, I often fall into the jeans and a t-shirt rut. It's just so easy to pull on in the morning and get to the business of making lunches, getting kids ready for school and the rest of the everyday life that gets in the way of looking awesome.

Family Photo Fest

Back at the beginning of November my family got together at one of the local parks and met with a very talented young photographer, Ashley Topping, to have some family photos done. The last time we did this as a large group my littl'un was just a baby - and he's now 5, so we were certainly due for an update. My sisters and I all split on the cost of the session with Ashley (which was incredibly reasonably priced, I might add) and gave the photo session to our parents as a birthday gift - their birthdays are only 5 days apart.

A Little Bit Country...

When I put this outfit on I immediately thought of the mid 90s when I was a teenager and (admittedly) wore the heck out of the grunge trend. I mean, ripped jeans, plaid shirts with cuffed sleeves, boots, and so on and so on.

Because I'm a grown-up

Remember when you were a kid and you got to pick out your own outfit - and if there was an item of clothing you really loved you just wore it - no matter if it went or not.

Thankful

I have so much to be thankful for! My beautiful little monsters, I mean boys. My handsome husband - who supports me in all my crazed endeavours, my parents and sisters, my in-laws, our friends and our church. I am so grateful to have all of these wonderful people in my life and Thanksgiving is a perfect time to stop and be thankful.
