High Tea

I am blessed to be very close with my sisters and our Mum. We travel together, and try to do some fun outings on a regular basis.

Traditions

I am lucky to have a very close relationship with my sisters.
It wasn't until I was an adult and began talking to other people that I realized just how "abnormal" our close relationships were. My sisters are 3 and 6 years younger than me, respectively, but are absolutely some of my closest friends. We talk very regularly, see each other often and have several sister traditions - one of which, is apple picking.

Another side of Me

Something that I don't often discuss here on the blog is my faith - it's not a secret - I obviously talk about what I've worn to church, or what we've done with our church family throughout the week. That said, however, there is an aspect of my faith that actually is very important to me, and involves clothes as well (so win win for me!) - And it is our Liturgical Dance Ministry. Our group, which is named Anointed Joy, is a huge part of my life, and a great passion for me.

My good friend Andrea and I are often partnered together - we're similar heights!

Thankful

I have so much to be thankful for! My beautiful little monsters, I mean boys. My handsome husband - who supports me in all my crazed endeavours, my parents and sisters, my in-laws, our friends and our church. I am so grateful to have all of these wonderful people in my life and Thanksgiving is a perfect time to stop and be thankful.

Love is Always in Style

I'm taking a break from a regularly scheduled personal style post because I want to gush and wax poetic about my hubby for a bit. So if that turns you off - feel free to stop reading now - style will be back tomorrow. ;)

Memory

So, this may seem like an odd thing for a personal style blog post - but my Gran passed away last Sunday and her funeral was this past Saturday. This is what I wore.

What to Wear?

My Grandparents will be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary this June. (WHA? I know, right?! - Super inspiring)
60 years of wedded bliss right here... okay - maybe not bliss... but still. Love them!

How2Wear: Hats & Fascinators

This is a very special How2Wear - for lots of reasons. The first because I'm linking up with Rachel from Garay Treasures to show you H2W Hats. Rachel is an awesome blog-friend, a mama, and a lady with tonnes of style - click on over to her blog to see H2W a hat with a boho vibe.

So, today is my father-in-law's 60th birthday! (Happy Birthday Warren!) And on the weekend, my in-laws hosted a great party to celebrate!

Effortless style on Repeat

Generally I wouldn't post two outfits so close together that are so similar, but after I wore this flowy blouse to my Mom-date with jeggings and black boots, I just didn't want to wear anything else to an annual family Christmas party this past weekend.

Graphic top & skinny jeans

I haven't worn this top in ages, but I felt like wearing something funky and fun when we went to my sister & brother-in-law's house to celebrate his 30th birthday. Hanging out with my family usually means lots of laughs and eating good food, so whatever you wear needs to be super comfortable, but I still wanted to look 'dressed' rather than going over in my sweatpants.

Blue Blazer & Print Dress

I recently picked up this blue blazer from Suzy Shier. It's purely for looks as it has no buttons, no lining and is actually quite stretchy, but I loved the colour and I think it's good to have a few "not quite" blazers in the wardrobe to throw overtop of a sleeveless dress or shirt when the occasion calls for it.

Mud Run Fun Fashion

Today's post is going to be a bit different.

For the 2nd year in a row now I've pulled up my big-girl panties and gone and done Mud Hero: a 6k mud obstacle course fun-run. It is seriously the hardest thing I do all year (and no, it's not nearly as hard as Tough Mudder, or Warrior Dash or a myriad of other mud-runs.... it's kind of like those runs goofy little brother... but hey) and I'm usually really sore and really proud of myself the next day. I'm not the most fit person around, but I manage to complete the run and do all the obstacles, so I love it. And I'm so doing it again next year.

This year, the hubs decided to join me, and our team "Muddy Mayhem" was made up of myself, the hubs, my folks, and my friend (who is way tougher than me and has done Tough Mudder approximately 18000% more times than I ever will) and I decided to share some "mud run fashion" with you.

For mud-runs, the normal fashion rules do not apply. You need to wear clothes that are fairly tight, made of wicking material, and add some wacky costume accessories to make you stand out to the photographers around the course. So here's what we wore!
My folks - possibly the coolest parents ever.

My tough mud-run friend - this hero is ready for mud-battle!

Here you can see us rocking the neon yellow knee highs and yellow bandanas we chose for our team this year. Also - fluorescent shoelaces. Obviously.
