Paint Chips

I love to try new crafts on a regular basis, and I especially love them if I'm able to somewhat replicate a much more expensive option for much much cheaper. Enter the paint-chip necklace.

I love love LOVE enamel necklaces. I think the bright colours and shine are just so fun and a great way to add some pop to an otherwise simple outfit. They're also - super-expensive and quite heavy. Two things I definitely don't look for in a necklace.

So I bought some modge-podge resin and went through my (frankly massive) collection of paint chips. Cut out some fun shapes, coated them in resin and made them into a necklace. Voila! Enamel look without all the work.

And the best part? When someone says "Oh, I love your necklace!" You can say "Thanks! It's paint chips!" and they'll look at you like you're insane and you'll just laugh and laugh.... lol... maybe that's just me.

Anywho - I wore this necklace made of paint chips, with my double stud earrings, leopard flats (both top ten remix items) skinny jeans, teal tee, and new navy blazer (from Costco! Sweet!). Done and done.

Blazer - Costco: similar / similar / similar
Tee - Ricki's: similar / similar / similar
Jeans - Old Navy: similar / similar / similar
Flats - Ardene
Earrings - Ardene
Necklace - Handmade

  1. What a cool project! I would never have guessed it was made of paint chips. (and thanks for your comments on my post today- it's so amazing that Canadian moms get a whole year! I think that would give you such a better idea of how things are working, and what you should do!)

  2. Lol! I've been down that road before - it's much nicer to just make them for myself or to give away. Thanks for hosting the link up and for stopping by!
