Weekday Workwear

I hardly ever brush out my curls.... I don't know why - I mean, I like how they look when I'm having a good hair day - and straightening my hair is a tonne of work, so really this is my only other option for styling this madness.

What Mama Wants

I've posted this tee-tunic on my Instagram before - and it meets one of my many "wants" when it comes to clothing: comfort while still stylish.

Those boyfriend jeans

I admit it, the "boyfriend jean" was not a style I understood for a while. I love me some jeggings - I don't like to put "extra" fabric around my body because it just makes it look bigger than it is.

But THESE boyfriend jeans? I got them at Torrid (actually I bought them online because I need the tall inseam) and I. Am. Obsessed.

Tee perfect

What is it about the tee-shirt? It's a total wardrobe staple - and I mean everything from your plain white cotton ones that are perfect for layering to this breezy, chiffon beauty in a nice deep pink.

A Time Away

Dear Readers,

Are you still out there? If I've lost you forever, I apologize. I hope that you moved on to other Plus-sized Mom blogs full of sarcasm and love. If I haven't lost you, then I am soooo glad you're still here!

I didn't plan it, I just found that I needed time. I love this blog, I love you, dear Readers, but I needed a time away. A time to focus on myself, my family, my home businesses, my life! But the other day I thought - you know what I miss? Blogging!

Dance, Mama, Dance

You've probably seen me mention before that I dance with the liturgical dance group at my church. We practice and fellowship together once a week and I really look forward to our practices, both for the exercise and for the group dynamic. It's a really fun and wonderful way to worship. But, of course, it begs the question - what does Mama wear for dance practice?

Crochet, Lace, Burgundy & Leopard

When I know I'm going away for a night (or for a few days) I try to sort out a wardrobe that is short on numbers but long on options. I don't like to try and decide days in advance what I'm going to wear because I can't guarantee that I'm actually going to want to wear that when the time comes. I knew we'd be heading out to my in-laws after church on Sunday for our 2nd (of 3!) Thanksgiving dinners so I needed to be comfortable enough to hang out, help my MIL in the kitchen, play with kids, and eat and laugh a LOT. All of which I did in this easy, comfortable, but still dressy enough for dinner outfit.

Floral, Cobalt & Leopard - Oh My!

Sometimes an item will just jump out at me when I'm thrifting.
Sometimes, it's meant to be.
Sometimes I notice a super cute pair of leopard print flats on varagesale and then I notice that they're only $2.00.... how can it get any better than that, you ask?
Well I'll tell you.

Print Wrap Dress

I love a good thrifting find.
And just about the only thing that makes a good thrifting find better is when someone else buys it for you!
My sister and I were at It's Worth Repeating in Courtice this past week - she was hoping to score a new winter jacket, but it was gone as soon as they opened that morning - and as we were browsing around I saw this funky wrap dress hanging in the dress section. Upon closer inspection I realized it was a Kiyonna! Sweet find!

Gingham & Boyfriend jeans

Okay, I admit it. I've worn these jeans like a billion times since I picked them up at the V-V boutique (aka Value Village). They actually come from Old Navy, but I much prefer to pay about $7 for jeans than $30. This gingham shirt has gotten a lot of wear this summer and these scalloped flats add just a bit of punchy colour to this outfit.

Blue print and ball cap

These blue print pants are back in rotation again. The weather is starting to turn colder and once it stops getting up to 15+ degrees in the afternoon, I'll have to give up and put these pants away for the winter.

I finally picked up a "leather" ball cap. I've been wanting one for some time, but I sure didn't have the cash to drop on a real leather ball cap. I picked this one up from Ardene on a 3 for $10 deal - that means this hat cost $3.33! Now that's a steal!

It was pretty cool this morning, so I opted for a black waffle-knit crew neck tee-shirt under my blue cardigan both to keep warm and to pick up on the black in the ball cap. My trusty navy boat shoes and I was set!

Runnin! ..... errands.

Do you ever have one of those days where you feel just about run off your feet? Like suddenly every single errand that you've been thinking you need to do needs to happen all in one day?
This was one of those days. Aside from waking up that morning feeling seriously oppressed by the heavy storm clouds that were just hanging out, not doing anything except giving me a headache I suddenly felt the need to go to the farm market store, the grocer, the bank, and the library. And then come home and weed and harvest from the garden. I needed clothes I could "run around" in. Easy shorts, bright plain tee and some comfy sneakers and I'm set! What's your go-to errand outfit?

Fam Jam Casual

Our family takes pretty much any excuse to get together - and we love to hang out and celebrate pretty much everything with lots of food, laughs and yummy cake. Our parents birthdays are only 5 days apart in August and we generally do a family get together somewhere in between the two. I wore some seriously comfy (and very stretchy) jeggings, a great gingham button down and some bright accessories.  A great, comfortable fam-jam casual outfit.

What's the Story, Morning Glory?

What's the story, morning glory?
What's the word, hummingbird?

When I was growing up I had a good friend who enjoyed musicals as much as I do. And now, every time I watch a musical I think of her (Nicole, if you're reading this - you know I can't watch Bye Bye Birdie without thinking of hanging out with you!). I made this crop top, which makes me feel really retro and fun, although this Mama's 4th trimester body is definitely not up to wearing a crop-top without a tank underneath!

I love the really retro fun feel of this outfit - and although I was a little uncertain when I made it at first, I'm always on about "owning it" and so, own it I shall.
