Column of Crochet

Another great example of a prime varagesale find that just needed a bit of work!

This gorgeous crochet column maxi was on VS for only $12! The lining that it came with was obscenely, indecently short on me, so I cut it, and sewed in a full length lining.

Then I turned the crochet inside out and resewed each of the tier lines (since they kept coming apart). And voila! $12 plus about $3 for lining fabric and about 10 minutes at the sewing machine for this awesome little number.

I wore this for an afternoon family gathering to celebrate my nephew's 12th birthday. It was comfy and easy to wear and still managed to garner a few compliments!

Do you ever buy clothes from garage sales or virtual garage sales?

I've scored some really great items secondhand lately - I think this may be one of my faves!

  1. Tea~ this is fabulous on you...love it!! And I'm so envious of your sewing skills. I unfortunately have none. I've become a huge fan of Poshmark and have scored several super cheap second hand items there.

    1. Debbie,
I've never heard of Poshmark! I'll have to check them out. There's just something about a great find that you get secondhand or for a super-deal! Makes wearing it all the more fun!
If I didn't have sewing skills absolutely NONE of my clothes would fit properly! I've always been a "hard-to-fit" and thankfully my mother taught me at a fairly young age how to alter, let down hems and change waistlines! It's never too late to try and learn a new skill though! I have 2 little boys and I fully intend to teach both of them how to sew - my hubby can sew, so why not them?
      Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Thanks Dawn! I will totally admit that this is not the type of dress I usually go for. So glad I DIDN'T go with my gut on this one! It's so comfy and beautiful at the same time. And I absolutely love it.
