Dress Like a Mom

I had someone say to me once - well, now that you're a Mom I guess you're going to have to start dressing like one... needless to say - that was long before now (and before this blog).

Even so - at the time I thought "What on earth does THAT mean?!"

How does one "dress like a Mom"? Should I be wearing an apron and pearls and a wide a-line skirt and a petticoat a la June Cleaver?

Should I be wearing an 80s windsuit with running shoes and a ponytail?

A polo shirt and khakis?

Flats? Sweatpants? What?!

So - here's what I actually think: if you're a Mom - you should dress like... yourself. You should wear what makes you feel good. Wear what you're comfortable in. Wear colours that you love and that make you happy - despite what anyone else might like or think.

After all - if you're a Mom - you really ought to dress like one. ;)

PS - I actually had a really lovely Mother's day. We were out at my in-laws place in the morning and went to their church. We had a nice lunch at their house afterwards, came home and then went over to my parents house to celebrate with my mother and sisters and their families. There was lots of food, laughter and love. A perfect way to celebrate being a Mom. And here's a little bonus pic of the reason I am a Mom - these two crazy boys!

  1. Seriously, I don't know why people expect moms to dress terribly. I understand that priorities change, but moms can still look gorgeous as you do in this dress. The cut of the dress is incredibly flattering on you and the color is perfect!

    1. I know! I'll admit that I definitely have yoga-pants and t-shirt days - but I don't think that that's required code of dress once you're a Mom! Moms can be fashionable too! Thanks for stopping by! :)
