Whenever we visit my in-laws we try to go and attend my husband's family church as well. We like to say that they're the "Grandma's House" of churches - our home away from home if you will.
This past Sunday was St. Andrew's Sunday, or kilts and colours. I wish I had thought to ask a few folks if I could take their pictures as well, because there were so many gorgeous tartans, kilts, scarfs and plaids.
I wore my new plaid pencil skirt from Torrid - the same one I wore for our family Christmas card picture and a classic white button down. Now - if you're busty like me, you know how hard it is to find a button down shirt that both fits nicely AND buttons up the front without gaping. This one still needs a safety pin to keep one of the sections closed - but because it fits over my chest it can be a bit baggy around the waist.
I'm not usually a tucked in shirt kind of gal - the mom-belly, or c-section shelf is a part of my body that I'm still working really hard on loving about myself - but with the shirt untucked it looked a bit sloppy - so I sucked it up (but not sucked it in), tucked in my shirt and went for it.
And you know what? It wasn't all that bad. I admit, I cringed a bit at a few of these pics - because I'm still not 100% on the belly-love train - but I'm working on it.
Do you tuck in your shirts? What parts of you are you working on loving about yourself?
Love the ensemble. You look fabulous.

I love the retro vibes t-strap shoes give off. And to top it off - these are some of the most comfortable heels I've ever worn. I've had these for several years and still love them.

Tea, I love this outfit! I am with you on trying to love my belly curves a little more! But you are rocking this tucked in look, for sure. Torrid has the best pencil skirts! I have not tucked yet, but I usually tie my shirt at the waist which seems to minimize the tummy bulge!

My belly is the number 1 thing I struggle with loving. After having so many abdominal surgeries and the scar tissue cinches up and leaves you with a belly "shelf" - ugh! But it's part of me, it's part of my story and I'm working on loving it!
DeleteI often consider tying something around my waist - but I always think it makes my bum look too big! LOL - maybe that's the other thing I need to work on.

Nice check skirt, I have a similar one, that I need to find and style. Jacqui x
ReplyDeleteI could totally see you in an outfit like this Jacqui! I love the length on this pencil skirt having it hit just at/over the knee instead of above it makes it feel sort of retro and fun. I'll be watching your page to see if you find a way to style yours!
